Teller I

SUMMARY
To provide superior banking services to customers in a professional manner. Provide the customer and potential customer with a clear understanding of the technical aspects and benefits of products and services offered. Expand the customer base through successful selling techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Expand customer base through in-depth knowledge of retail services, products and selling techniques
  • Recognizes selling opportunities and effectively cross-sells bank products and services
  • Follows up on sales opportunities/prospects/refers prospect to appropriate department, such as Trust
  • Acknowledges customer complaints and follows up on complaints and ensures customer satisfaction
  • Process all financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner, accepts deposits and loan payments
  • Redeems/settles/issues cashier checks, money orders and gift/travel cards
  • Processes branch capture, credit card, mortgage payments
  • Handles balance inquiries and resolves problems

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Customer Service experience preferred; cash handling experience preferred; working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products preferred.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Must enjoy working with the public on a daily basis. Requires good phone etiquette and the ability to handle difficult customers in a tactful manner. Must be customer service oriented. Demonstrated aptitude to handle sensitive operational transactions and customer relationships; self-sufficient; ability to sell products and services. Ability to interact as a member of a team. This position requires demonstrated social skills, professional grooming and adherence to FIB dress code. Word processing knowledge preferred. Good sales ability is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
